Explore Gnadenhutten, OH

Gnadenhutten is a small village located in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. It was originally settled by Moravian missionaries in the late 18th century, who established a mission and a Native American village. The village gained historical significance due to the tragic events that took place during the American Revolutionary War. In 1782, a group of American militiamen brutally massacred 96 Christian Delaware Native Americans, including men, women, and children, in what is now known as the Gnadenhutten Massacre. Today, Gnadenhutten serves as a reminder of this dark chapter in American history and is home to a memorial and museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the victims.
